The Ambulance Visit

The Ambulance Visit

On the 12th of June we were visited by an ambulance. First we went into the junior room. Then Daniel’s dad (the paramedic) came with another paramedic that works with him. They told us facts about the ambulance. After a lot of questions and answers we went outside to see the ambulance itself. It was way bigger than I up close than I thought it would be. We got to go inside it and see Eoan’s heartbeat. When I saw Hugo he had a cast on his hand. He was so lucky! We then heard the siren. It was amazingly loud. It was on for a while before it stopped. Then it was time for a photo. I saw an ambulance helmet and put it on for the photo. It was an amazing day!

Rounders

Rounders

On the 23rd of June we played rounders at Kiltiernan N.S. It was so fun. At first Mark and I were out field. Our job was to catch the ball so the player that hit the ball is out. Mark got the ball but did not catch it unfortunately. Finally, it was the people out fields turn to hit the ball. When I hit the ball it went so far I ran to the first mat. Then Killian hit the ball. He ran to the mat also. I ran to the second mat. It is hard to play but really fun.

A Really Fun Day

A Really Fun Day

It was the 23rd of June 2016. “It is ice-cream day. Hurray!” Ice-cream day is a fundraiser for ‘Down Syndrome Ireland.’ First there was rounders with Louise. She played Beat the Ball as a warm up game and we played a game of rounders. It was so fun.  I hit the ball so far!!! When we came in, it was time for ice-cream. I got a huge one!! I could barely get it into my mouth. It took ages for me to eat it! I played gymnastics at Break. I left my ice-cream on the wall while I went and did a cartwheel. And… my ice-cream melted on the wall. Oh no! Well I’ll know never to leave my ice-cream on the wall again. We had a busy day. Then at one thirty we had Gerry coming in because he works as an archaeologist. He told us about what he works as. It was fun! One day, he found a skeleton buried. He showed us a photo of it. It was a really fun day in Kiltiernan!

Pro 12 Visit

On the 21st June Gort Rugby Club came in to show our school the Pro 12 Trophy. Connacht won the trophy in Edinburgh by beating Glasgow Warriors.  We all went to the halla to see it.  We talked about our favourite players.  The trophy weighed 15 KG. I got to hold it after we talked to the people that brought it. It didn’t feel as heavy as I thought it would be .We got a picture with the trophy. I loved the day!

My First Holy Communion

My First Holy Communion

In the morning I got up and went down stairs my mom had the place all set up. Then I went to the hairdressers to get my hair done. Meanwhile we went home and the bouncy castle man was there. I got a disco dome. A disco dome is a big bouncy castle that is dark and it has lodes of disco balls inside and good music.  The bouncy castle man left balloons inside.
Then the caterer came with all the food.  Meanwhile I got into my dress and I got to put up all the balloons. I went over to all my neighbours and Phil. Then I went to the church and I saw all of my best friends. We all got lined up and we got roses.  The boys got red roses and the girls got white roses. Orlaith brought a frame that my mom made up and Mark was in the picture.  One of the boys brought a baptism candle up. Then we started the Communion mass.  I said the Irish Prayer. We got Communion near the end of mass and it was so good. Then we went to the hall in Labane and there were so many sweets. I went up on stage and had great fun. Then I went home and people started to arrive for the party. I went on the bouncy castle with all of my cousins and next door neighbours. Then we went in to watch the match.  We had an ice-cream table and there were loads of different types of  ice cream.  It was awesome

I had the best day ever!!

My Communion

My Communion

I woke up and jumped out of bed on Saturday morning running into Mom and Dad’s room shouting “Daddy, Daddy Daddy, it’s my communion day!!! I ran down-stairs to Mom. She told me to get dressed and have my breakfast before going to the hairdressers at 8:30am. When I came back from the hairdressers, I watched telly until it was time to put on my dress. I was so excited! Then my Nana Pollough came because we were bringing her to the church with us. She said “Oh my goodness!” We took some photos and got into the car. The night before my communion, my cousins came over and gave me a Pick and Mix shop with jars of sweets. They had mini shovels like the ones in Pick and Mix and lots more. Before we left, I took a very sneaky last minute marshmallow out of one of the jars. When we got to the church, I went into the Porch to see my friends. We took our seats and the ceremony began. In the procession I carried up a photo of Mark. The first person up to the altar was Diarmuid. His job was to do the opening prayer with Aoife from Ballyglass NS. The next jobs were Peader’s Meadbh’s and Hugo’s. They were reading the Bidding Prayers. Then Erin and I were up! Erin read the first reading and I sang the Responsorial Pslam. I love singing and I enjoyed performing and I looked at the so I wouldn’t make any mistakes. I looked up for “He shepherds me” and saw everyone’s face smiling. After me was the second reading read by Ballyglass and then the prayers of the faithful and Father Roche said a few words. He then called up the people to bring up the gifts. Then it was time for us to go up to the altar to do the actions for the ‘Our Father’. When we came back to our seats it was time for the all-important moment of the mass. We got to receive our First Holy Communion. It felt exciting to go to the altar. By my opinion the host tasted like wafer. Afterwards we took a class photo and took our family photos. Then we went to Labane Hall where we had lots of treats and food. Then I went home and took photos on the bouncy castle. When my cousins came we put washing up liquid on it. It was so much fun slipping and sliding all over the place. We were soaking wet! Then we had food and I got to cut the cake! My cake was amazing and it had an angel that said M for Mark on it. Then everyone went in to watch the Connaught match and they won! I had such a great Communion Day!!!

Yesterday, the 23rd of June was Ice-Cream Day. Ena and Margaret came to our school to give us ice-cream. Ice-Cream Day is for a charity called Down Syndrome Ireland. Also, yesterday Jerry O’ Sullivan came in. Jerry is an archaeologist. His visit was very interesting. He talked all about his work.  I was speechless after it. We asked him was it weird being near skeletons. He said “You get used to it”.

Ice-Cream Day

Ice-Cream Day

Ice cream day was on the 23rd of June. For Ice-Cream Day you had to bring in 2 euro to donate to Down Syndrome Ireland. The ice-cream was wafers and vanilla. Ena and Margaret made the ice creams for us. On that same day we had rounders with Louise. First we played ‘Beat the Ball’. This is how you play: someone would throw the ball to base 1 and the person at base 1 would catch the ball. They then threw it to the person at base 2 and then that person threw it to base 3, then to home base and if you get to the home base before the ball, you beat the ball. When we played rounders it was a bit hard to hit the ball. It was so fun though.
