On Friday, January 27th, we competed in the Credit Union Quiz in Sullivans Hotel, Gort. Our school was represented by two U11 and two U13 teams. We had been working hard on our quiz practice and were very excited to participate. All our teams scored very well on the night and one of our U13 teams proved victorious, winning by a 4 point margin. Well done to everyone involved.
On Sunday March 5th, we nervously made our way to The Salthill Hotel in Galway for Round 2 of the Credit Union quiz. First 2 teams to qualify to the national finals in Dublin. Fingers crossed. After a nail biting and pretty sensational tie-breaker we finished in 2nd place. Our confidence is growing daily as we are practicing so hard.
After a very early start we arrived at The RDS in Dublin on Sunday April 2nd. The whole set-up was very exciting and, if we’re honest, a little scary!! But, as we’d been practicing so hard we were confident. We were thrilled to meet the O’Donovan brothers from Skibberreen who are youth ambassadors for the Credit Union. They were so nice and we got our photo taken with them. They gave us a good pep talk. Then Aidan Power, the compare for the day, arrived on stage and we were ready to get started. The questions were difficult but very fair. We finished a very respectable 5th on the day out of 50 teams from all over the country. Our teachers and parents were very proud of us and we received a big congrats from Gort Credit Union also. Taking part in the school quiz was such a great experience and we hope next year will be as successful for our school.
