Sail Boats in Science
The Middle Room had the best fun in June making sail boats in Science. Our mission was to find out what materials we could use to design and make sail boats which would float.
Firstly, we got into groups where we planned, designed and drew our plans. We then allocated who would bring in what materials.
Next morning, our classroom was full of recycled materials ranging from plastic bottles to paper plates, foam to feathers, corks and toothpicks and of course, some Lego figures to sail the ships!
We really enjoyed making the boats. Everyone worked well together and we learned which materials were suitable for floating.
Later, we used buckets to test which boats survived the storm.
Dáire, Rory and Seán’s Captain Jeffrey was safe and sound after a near miss with the sinking ship but luckily, we were all ok!
