SCHOOL CREST

 crest

The school crest symbolises the school’s origins, which date back to an 8th century church, the ruin of which remains in a field less than one mile from our school.  The oak leaves and acorns represent the parish of Ballinderreen or ‘Baile an Doirín’ – the ‘town of the little oak’.  The ferns symbolise the parish of Ardrahan or ‘Ard Rathain’ – the ‘height of the ferns’.

The tin whistle and hurley symbolise our desire to provide children with a broad, balanced education.  Our crest symbolises the way in which your child’s potential can be fulfilled through numeracy and literacy but also in their participation in the arts (music, visual art and drama) and in sport, outdoor activities and trip
