For the parents of Junior Infants, Senior Infants and First class
In Athenry Castle, we will dress up in medieval costume, have a tour of the castle and weather permitting, spend time outside on activities such as archery and partake in a maze treasure hunt. After, we will eat lunch and head to Busy Bees for more fun. You can collect your child at 3.15 at the school.
Suitable clothes
All children are asked to wear socks as they will have to take off their shoes in the indoor play area. Please provide a raincoat for your child if there is any chance of rain on the day, and also sun screen in case we see the sun at any stage!
Lunch
The children can bring a packed lunch which we will eat there. They will have small break and big break. It wouldn’t be a tour if treats weren’t allowed but please don’t bring fizzy drinks or chewing gum as normal on treat Friday. As we will be doing lots of running around, an extra drink in the lunchbox might be a good idea.

Famous puppeteer and storyteller Tommy Baker has been visiting our school to help us with our acting and drama. We began by researching mythical creatures. We are now in the middle of creating our exciting upcoming play starring the fierce Hercules, the Banshee, mermaids, the Cyclops, the Phoenix and the Hydra.
Next we created them by using greaseproof paper. Now we are diligently working on the fascinating storylines. Tommy will be visiting once a week up until Christmas.

Cross Country
/in 4th Class, 5th Class, 6th Class /by 5ch00lAdm1nCross Country
On the 22nd of September Oisín, Ian, James, Stephen, David, Adam, Luke, Emma and Grace travelled to Renmore park for the schools cross county athletics. They were split into groups, 3rd and 4th class boys, 3rd and 4th class girls, 5th and 6th class boys and 5th and 6th class girls. Our school did very well. Well done to David and Stephen in particular who came 1st and 7th. The race was very tough because of the natural features like hills and the rough surface of the ground. You need a lot of stamina for cross country races. Stephen and David will be participating in the Connacht round and will travel to Sligo for it on the 18th of October. We wish them the best of luck.

School Tour 2014
/in 4th Class, 5th Class, 6th Class /by 5ch00lAdm1nSchool tour
On Friday the 20th of June, we went on our school tour. We travelled to Athlone Co. Roscommon. We visited Bay Sports. At bay sport we first set off and we got our lifejackets, helmets and the oars. Then we went up to the north beach and we picked up our kayaks. We took to the water with great excitement. The water was very cold. Everyone started using the kayaks as bumpers cars! There were not enough kayaks for everyone so six people had to use a currach. Later we went pier jumping. It was an exhilarating experience and a cold one too!.When we had finished pier jumping we scooted off to supermacs and a spot of shopping in the golden island shopping centre. We shopped till we dropped! On the way home we ate lots of sweets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best school tour ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
